    faq

    Why eat natural sesame seeds?

For flavor and nutrients of course! The nutrients of the sesame seeds are better absorbed if they are ground or pulverized before consumption, like with tahini. These seeds contain microminerals like calcium and magnesium, as well as trace minerals that can help regulate your metabolism. In some cases, these seeds are recommended to help reduce blood cholesterol and promote bowel movements.

    Can I sprout these seeds?

Yes! Before we purchase each batch of seeds we sample and test to make sure they sprout. We then also use these seeds for our cold-pressed oil process.

What is the difference between gold and brown flax?

The main difference comes down to taste, as their nutritional profiles are very similar. Golden flax seed has a fresher and nuttier flavor, while brown flax seed can be bitter.

    Why eat flax seeds?

Flax seeds have three powerful health benefits including omega fatty acids, fiber and lignans. These heart healthy and body-cleansing properties can help promote normal cholesterol levels and steady digestion.

Best way to consume these seeds?

Flax seeds are a low-glycemic carbohydrate, slowing the absorption of sugar in the intestinal tract. Therefore, it is important to chew or grind the flaxseeds in order to digest and absorb their nutritional contents. Many costumers use a coffee grinder in order to create what is known as flax meal or ground flax seeds. Others soak the seeds, starting the sprouting process, and then dehydrate them, as we do our crackers, for a crunchy and more digestible snack.

    What is flax meal?

Flax meal is ground up flax seeds. We do not sell meal as it goes rancid fast. We suggest buying flaxseeds and grinding them as needed. To keep fresh, refrigerate flax meal and use within a few days.

How to make a flax egg?

For one egg, take one tablespoon ground flax seeds to two tablespoons water. Let sit for 3-5 minutes so that gel can form before mixing into rest of recipe.

    Why eat chia seeds?

Chia seeds are a complete source of dietary protein providing all the essential amino acids. Rich in calcium, and also containing boron, chia seeds can act as a catalyst for the body in order to absorb and utilize available calcium.

    Why do chia seeds gel?

The soluble fiber in chia seeds forms gel when introduced to liquid. Chia seeds have the ability to absorb more than 12 times their body weight in water. This ability to hold water can prolong hydration and retain electrolytes in body fluids, especially during exertion. This gel also creates a physical barrier between carbohydrates and digestive enzymes, slowing the conversion of carbohydrates into sugar and extending endurance.

Do black sesame seeds have shells?

Our black sesame seeds are the entire raw seed, including the ‘shell’. The shell of these seeds is edible and gives them a crunchier texture and stronger flavor.

Yes, our black sesame seeds are naturally black in color; no substance is added to color them. Our supplier actually runs the seeds through a machine called a Color Sortex Machine that sorts the seeds for consistent size and color, removing all impurities.

    Why eat hulled hemp seeds?

Since the human body can’t produce essential fatty acids, it is important that EFAs be consumed on a regular basis. Hulled hemp seeds consist of 45% of these good fats, providing an ideal balance of omega-3 (ALA), omega-3 (SDA), omega-6 (LA), and omega-6 (GLA). As one of the most nutritious foods on the planet, hulled hemp is packed full of vitamins and minerals that are beneficial to any diet.

Will I test positive for a drug test after eating hulled hemp seeds?

We are committed to keeping THC levels low in our hemp products, to which failing a drug test is extremely unlikely even when eating high amounts of these products.
