    Budwig

The purpose of this group is the discussion of Dr. Johanna Budwig's Diet and Protocol for cancer, heart disease, arthritis & other conditions. Members give personal experiences and information for educational purposes. This should not be taken as medical advice. If medical advice is needed, it should be sought from those who are qualified. Everyone is responsible for their own decisions and choices.

FlaxSeedOil2 is one of the best sources of reliable information on the Budwig Protocol in the English-speaking world. In 2001, this group was started by Cliff Beckwith who overcame advanced prostate cancer while in his 70's. In 2002, Cliff transferred ownership to Wilhelm Hansen, who developed our file system. Wilhelm, a native German, studied Dr. Budwig's German-language books as well as those in English. He wrote excellent posts which can be read in the archives by using the search box. After years of writing messages, both men retired from the group. In 2007, Wilhelm transferred ownership to Sandra Olson, a moderator for several years and the creator of www.budwig-videos.com We have many Budwig experts in our group.

    FAQ

    FLAXSEED

What is the difference between gold and brown flax seed?

Nutritionally, not much. Our reason for using gold flax seed is taste. Gold flaxseed has a fresher and nuttier flavor, while brown flax seed can often have a bitter flavor.

Does flaxseed need to be ground up?

Not necessarily, the flaxseed in our flax crackers is soaked in water and then dehydrated. Soaking breaks down the hard outer shell and starts the life process. Dehydrating then makes the seed crunchy so you can easily chew them with your teeth. This chewing process also brings your own digestive enzymes into the equation making the flax even more digestible. However, if you are eating flaxseed that has not been soaked, it is best to grind them.

Do your artisan cold-pressed oils need to be shipped refrigerated? Does the shipping time affect the oils?

When tested, the relatively short shipment times and variable seasonal temperatures encountered during shipment have been found to be irrelevant. Even shipments arriving during the summer heatwaves can be guaranteed as being potent and unharmed.

    Are the plastic bottles BPA-free?

Yes, we use BPA-free bottles made of Polyethylene and the main difference is that our bottle is black to protect it from light which can degrade the oil.  If you're looking to ditch plastic completely, we do offer this oil in a 32 oz glass bottle.

Can I cook with your artisan cold-pressed oils?

Cooking with our artisan cold-pressed oils is not recommended. The smoke point (the temperature at which an oil will burn and become rancid) of flax oil is 225 degrees Fahrenheit, most forms of cooking will easily exceed this temperature. Cooking with our oils will not only affect the taste, but omega essential fatty acids are very delicate and high heat will destroy them. However, you can use the oils after cooking on a number of dishes by adding it once it's on your plate and ready to consume.
