How to Stay Hydrated Throughout the Day
Staying hydrated is tricky.
A lot of people don't prioritize their hydration like they should.
Here are some reasons why you should focus on staying hydrated at all times:
- Increases energy and brain function
- Helps joints and muscles to work properly
- Cleanses and detoxes the body
- Promotes cardiovascular health
- Helps you to lose weight
- Relieves constipation
- Helps to improve skin health
So... how exactly do you stay hydrated throughout the day?
Here are a few tips for you:
1. Invest in a new water bottle.
There's something different about a new water bottle. I don't know? Personally, it just helps me to drink more water. And it tastes better. Having a water bottle also allows you to take water with you wherever you go so you can stay hydrated!
2. Drink better tasting water.
Throw some fruit, mint leaves, and spices in your water to create spa water! This makes the plain, old water have a refreshing taste - making it easier to drink!
3. Get your water through your food.
There are so many foods out there that are so hydrating for your body. Some of these include cucumbers, celery, watermelon, oranges, and tomatoes. Who doesn't love having fresh, cold watermelon on a hot day? You can also hydrate through consuming broth - vegetable, chicken, or beef!
4. Don't wait to drink water.
When you wait to drink water till you're thirsty, then you're already dehydrated. In order to stay hydrated throughout the day, you need to drink water periodically, even if you aren't thirsty. I like to set goals for myself: drink 32oz. of water before I start my day, drink another 32oz. bottle of water before lunch, and so on. I try to consume a gallon of water a day.
5. Start your day with oatmeal.
Yeah, this is a random one... but trust me, I'm not crazy. The oats absorb the water/liquid that they are paired with. Even better, soak some chia seeds and throw them on your oatmeal for even more hydration!
By following these five tips, you can easily stay hydrated throughout the whole day. You don't even have to practice all five at the same time. Just focus on one, then eventually add another, and another until you feel hydrated!
When you're hydrated, you feel different, act different, and become a better version of yourself!
