Amazing Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar (ACV). It seems this fermented liquid apple has developed a "love it or hate it" reputation. Regardless of which camp you fall into, ACV has a multitude of benefits and a variety of uses, ranging from weight loss to cleaning. Generally, it is better to use a raw, unfiltered vinegar especially if you are ingesting it or applying it topically. You will get more beneficial elements from a version that is less processed.
The Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar:
1. Whitens Teeth
As strange as it may seem, apple cider vinegar is a natural way to whiten your teeth. It does so by killing off bacteria that contributes to teeth discoloration. Gargle with ACV and then brush your teeth as normal.
2. Triggers Weight Loss
Consuming 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar before or after eating can boost your metabolism and burn fat. The acetic acid in the vinegar both prevents fat buildup and and supports weight loss.
3. Acne Treatment
If you're one who struggles with acne, ACV can help. Diluting this vinegar with water (50/50) and dabbing it on the acne spots is like a natural toner. It dries out the inflamed area, which helps to remove the acne faster. If you have sensitive skin, try to dilute it more.
4. Helps with Colds
Apple cider vinegar can also help to boost your immune system. By consuming a tablespoon of ACV mixed with honey and warm water can relieve the symptoms of viruses more quickly. When sick, make sure to consume this three times a day to see best results.
5. Increases Energy
I think we all have times when our energy is almost on 'empty.' Apple cider vinegar is a natural way to counteract this. ACV is full of amino acids, potassium, enzymes, and antioxidants - all in which work together to restore your energy levels.
6. Reduces Bloating and Indigestion
Raw, unfiltered ACV with a "mother" is considered a probiotic. Therefore when consumed, it helps balance out the good bacteria in the gut - which in turn, improves overall gut health and can possibly help stomach issues. In addition, the acid from ACV can aid in digestion.
7. Lowers Cholesterol
While more studies are needed, ACV is showing positive results in regards to cholesterol. It helps to lower LDL ("bad") cholesterol and raise HDL ("good") cholesterol. Apple cider vinegar should not be considered a "cure all", but you might consider the addition of ACV if your cholesterol ratios are out of balance.
How Do You Drink It?
How do you drink ACV, you may ask?
There are different ways on doing so - all depending on what you prefer.
1. Take a shot of it
2. Dilute with water
3. Add honey, if you prefer sweetness
4. Add mint, cinnamon, or any other spices you enjoy
5. Add freshly squeezed lemon juice
6. Add ice
Personally, I love to dilute a shot of ACV with water, squeeze fresh lemon juice into it, add turmeric, fresh mint leaves, and a drizzle of honey (if I'm in the mood for sweetness). It's delicious.
Try to drink Apple Cider Vinegar everyday to see the maximum benefits!
